Do not go if you have any allergies. Staff are untrained on allergen safety and do not have access to an ingredient list with actual ingredients. Update: When asked for an ingredient list, staff pulled out 2 binders but would not let me look at either to confirm what the list was or if allergens were listed. They stated multiple times that my allergen was not listed, so they were unable to confirm that it contained it, which makes zero sense. There was no manager or or comparable staff who could help the young staff trying to assist me. When I visited the website after the owners angry response I was again unable to access an ingredients list only a possible contamination list, which is not the same. If this ice cream place was as allergen friendly as they suggest the 3 staff who tried to help would not have been so confused. I hope in the future the managers provide the support and training their staff need rather then leaving them alone to struggle. Service: Take out Meal type: Other Service: 1

1/11/24 considering your inaccurate assertions and allegations please contact me …1/11/24 considering your inaccurate assertions and allegations please contact me Thank you Kaitlyn - I see you visited your earlier review and believe deleted it. I have done the same and hopefully I can do a better job of explaining. Coincidentally, I updated our flavors and allergy documents on our site this past week. So your comments are quite timely. Please visit https://udderheaven.com/allergy-awareness. This has been updated for 2024 and is very similar in content to what has appeared and posted for the past several years. In addition please visit ttps://udderheaven.com/flavors. I have modified it so the flavor and known allergens appear in a table rather than in a specific allergen section, so that the direct relationship of a flavor to allergens is recognized. Assuming you have checked with other ice cream shops, I think you have to agree we are in a uniquely rare minority that actually put detailed allergy information in the public domain. I might also add that if we know there is any allergy in advance, we use separate utensils, (in the case of nuts store the ice cream in a separate freezer), will open a new tub if we have it and change gloves before serving. With regard to your concerns about an ingredient manual. There is a well documented and specific manual by the cashier which they can use as a reference. It is obvious from your description the staff was using it. It contains every ingredient in every flavor. In addition, each flavor listed has its known allergens in big red bold print. At the moment I do not know what your allergen is. You state that your allergen was not there. Our manuals and the website documents cover the most common allergens we typically see. EGGS, WHEAT, GLUTEN, DAIRY, SOY, COLOR, NUTS. So if you had something different, none of the manuals would reference it. So if this is true, I might understand the confusion. If the staff is unable to answer your question, using these documents, they are instructed to suggest that you do not make a purchase. Each Spring the staff is trained in allergy response. Our company manual has a full section on related procedures and how to handle allergy related questions. As far as not presenting you with our ingredient binder , I am not clear on what you were looking to find. Not being present, it sounds like whatever ingredient or allergen asked for was either not in the flavor or was not an allergen we identify. If your allergy is something other than the allergens I listed, please let me know If you would send me the flavor and the allergen, I will be happy to send you a copy of the page of the ingredient binder to support my statements. We follow recommended allergen awareness as published by Serve Safe, a nationally recognized food safety and educational institution. So from what I can gather, you have an allergen not in our manuals or part of what the industry identifies as the most common. However it still is an allergen that could be identified by ingredients, so the manual covers that as long as we know what the ingredient connection to a specific flavor. I think the real issue, which you got to in the last sentence, comes down to communication. Any one of our shift leads should have been able to help you and if we didn't then that is on us, but I can assure you this is a matter we do not take lightly. I am thinking something got lost in the discussion and in the end it is up to us to be sure you understand. I guess we failed there however not in the importance we place on food safety as your opening statement suggests. I will be sure the staff is continually current in this important subject. I look forward to your reaching me at our website and would be very happy to discuss this further. Thank you Bob More

Today I went with a large group of adults and kids to Udder Heaven Ice Cream Retreat to learn how to make ( and eat) Ice Cream. Bob did an amazing job of explaining the process. Then he set us up to make our own Ice Cream using three different methods. The kids were obviously engaged in learning the process and were even more entranced by the eating of it. A really great experience.

thank you for what you do. I am sure it is far more rewarding than making ice cream. Friday was a special day and I was glad to be a part of it.   bob
