The rolls are pretty good. Nice size and interesting toppings. The wings are kinda small, but have good flavor. Hamachi Kama was was probably my favorite - crispy skin and perfectly grilled. The chirashi bowl was decent but not wow - sashimi slices are not generous but passable.

Great "Sushi" find! We all love sushi, so when we visit relatives in Elk Grove, we try to "find" a new sushi place to try. This time we decided to try Umai Bar & Grill. They have a private parking lot which makes it very convenient. It was a warm summer afternoon, so we opted for patio seating. Our server arrived shortly after we were seated, and she was excellent at her job! She knew all the menu items and could immediately help us with our questions. We started with an order of Tuna Tartare and Gyoza and enjoyed both, especially the Tuna Tartare. For the main dish, we ordered Chicken Teriyaki, Beef Teriyaki, and Hot Mama, one of their house rolls. Folks, their beef Teriyaki is excellent! I highly recommend it. I also loved Hot Mama! It is a delicious combination of seared tuna, avocado, habanero masago, scallions, sriracha, jalapeños, unagi sauce, and togarashi. The habanero gives it a special kick! I am a committed nigiri sushi fan, so I also ordered a salmon and yellowtail nigiri and loved it. To our delight, we found out that they serve Gunther's ice cream, so we closed the deal with an order of green tea! We loved the food and the excellent service and had a great time.
