I often visit a restaurant alone before deciding if I will invite anyone to join me to eat there. This place was a disappointment. Extremely inattentive service. No sushi chef or anyone that has taken basic food handlers courses there. How can I tell? 3/4 of the guys had medium length hair and no hair covering. I'm writing this as I wait for my server to bring me the bill so I can pay. It was 10 minutes before I decided to start writing. How was the sushi? Just ok. Nothing spectacular. Sake menu is long but who cares at this point. I want to leave. She just dropped off the bill. I had my card out already but she ran off even as I yelled for her attention. This is the kind of thing that tells me you're not interested in a tip. No staff walking around. Everyone at the sushi bar is on their phone. Half the bar is packed up. They don't even care. I've been writing for quite a while now. Hope is dwindling that I will ever make my exit. Please, save yourselves! Don't fall victim to this trap! REMEMBER ADMIRAL AKBAR!!!!!!! Finally took my card. She is alone at the register, over in a dark corner near the bar. I see several other staff standing about. Some bussing tables, bit most just standing. Perhaps waiting. Waiting for what, I wonder? Check's here. Outty. Never coming back, alone or otherwise.
So happy to find a good sushi place close to SLU!! They treated me so great when I spent my birthday here over the summer. The rolls were awesome, and the service was even better. Great sake, great sushi, great space! I also noticed this is on the list for my airline miles so I will gladly be coming back again
Umi Saka House has really good seafoods (cooked or raw)! It can be good for large groups. And their happy hour has good deals. Most of the foods are "Americanized" Japanese foods (I think)... like California rolls... lol. But their grilled/fried salmon is awesome and unique! And their sashimi fishes are very fresh, I loved them.
