To all the bars I've ever been to: Union Lodge No.1's entire experience - but most memorably the Gin & Fizz - has put each one of them to shame. Whisk yourself away back in time and admire the semblance to a 1930's bank storefront, with charactered brick walls, cherry mahogany trim, and filled with lively candlelit conversations. There won't be too much seating on a busy night, but tables turn quickly and service is excellent. It's no surprise that there are 400+ reviews and almost a perfect five stars, so for out of state visitors like me, it's simply a fantastic choice. It's sort of rare to find a drink recipe where you can't taste a hint of booze, so if you fancy cream sodas in the slightest then your unicorn drink would be the Gin & Fizz. For $15, there's a significant amount of effort that goes into crafting and assembling the novelty fizzy foam topping, where it's concocted tactfully with the edge of a spoon. Sip into the silver straw, and prepare to be completely amazed by the harmony of 2 types of Gin, lemon, egg white, tonic water, and cream. I assumed it was a must-try since so many Yelpers reported so, and after trying it, I can safely say I'm no different! It was hard for any drink to follow the Gin & Fizz, but the Tom Collins was also fantastic and perfectly measured out. By no means did I not like any of them, but if I could pick ones to not order again, it'd be the Knickerbocker or the drink that comes in the coconut. I was very appreciative of how attentive and warm the service was. For a loud-ish bar scene it's rare to see that level appreciation for the customer, but Union Lodge No.1 easily stole my heart because of it. Now I just wish I didn't have to fly all the way to Denver to visit again... hah! Loved our visit here and I couldn't recommend it higher.
