The bloke who “greeted” us today was surly, miserable and totally indicative of everything that represents bad customer service.
This was the opinion of myself and everyone else who attended today.
Once it became apparent 10 people were there, we were bluntly informed any further people attending would be turned away at the door due to NSW Government COVID restrictions.
Fair enough. The law is the law.
I replied their website offered no option to indicate neither a group size or indeed permitted an online group booking at all. They actually offered no option to book online so why bother informing us of group sizes?
However, fair enough. As soon as the 11th person arrived, I and several others duly departed. I hadn’t expected more than 10 people to accompany me today.
I don’t have a problem being compliant. But I most definitely have a problem with dealing with rude people who take my money.
Again I had not expected more than 10 people (that I knew) to attend. In the end it was 11 people including myself that came. The bar was otherwise completely empty. Considering the way we were treated today, I can now understand why.
I understand the staff have a job to do and in complying with the law, but that was not the issue. It was the sub-standard service and surly attitude. We didn’t receive a “Hello / Good Afternoon ” but rather “You signed in yet?” being the first thing uttered to our face.
That doesn’t work for me. Evidently, neither did it for my friends who had no hesitation in leaving shortly after I did in solidarity.
We’ve visited Wayward on two previous occasions and encountered friendly and top class service.
But not today.
My friends and I get together every month or so and each person would easily spend $100 each. Not difficult to do in Sydney these days. I wouldn’t have thought these days with COVID and all that you would dissuade people from coming to your bar by being so unfriendly and unwelcoming. Seems I was wrong. Obviously they don’t need our business. But we’re more than happy to accommodate them on that from here on in.
I myself will not return to Wayward, nor will any of my friends. This is a shame as the beer is very high quality. Unfortunately, the customer service we all experienced today (if you can call it that) was the exact opposite.
It was absolutely abysmal.
cool little rooms reminiscent of the Cavern Club in Liverpool...Folks with their dogs and kids, like a pub on a Saturday afternoon in the 70s.love it.
