I was game for the Rattlesnake & Rabbit sausage so I ordered this hotdog + small fries + Sarsaparilla (sarsi) soda which were around $19.5 in total before tips. I liked that they had all these exotic options. The seating area and the ordering counter were actually separated by a corridor. I waited a bit before they brought me my hot dog. It was hard to describe the taste of the sausage. It was just a new taste to me, in a good way. The sausage was flavorful, very meaty, not salty, with a hint of herbs. Anyways, I liked what I had. The sauerkraut and onion toppings were good too. The fries were really good, with the chipotle aioli sauce. The sarsi soda was also a nice addition. I was here for a late lunch (2.30 PM), so it was not too crowded.
Definitely worth waiting in the long line. Although it's a little overpriced, it's not a place I would dine at on a regular basis so I didn't mind paying. The chipotle aioli sauce for the fries is f'n amazing - definitely a must get, you won't regret it. Once you place your order, you will get a number and they'll bring your order to you. There's an open dining area in the back. Surprisingly, we were able to get a table even though it was pretty packed inside.
This is my second time back at Wurstkuche. There was almost a moment that I drove off and didn't want to come back since parking was so hard to find. I literally drove in circles all hangry and then I reached the LA River bridge. I was then convinced to turn the car around and give the search for parking one more shot. Luckily there was public parking at the Office Depot for $10. The walking distance to Wurstkuche wasn't too far. Upon arrival, there was a long line that ended way back towards the end of the building. I was so hungry that I couldn't wait to eat. The next best thing was take out! Ordering online was quick easy and shortened the wait time. Instead of waiting for a dine in table, we skipped the line and headed directly to the bar for the to go order. Yup, just like that we were inside. The bar area had a good number of people and some empty seats. Rather than to sit empty handled at the bar, we ordered a Duchesse De Bourgogne. It was light, sweet, and tart. Tasted more of a sour beer, so it was definitely to my liking. That beer really took effect immediately, since I was hungry and drinking on an empty stomach. Besides the drinks, this place was definitely known for their exotic sausages. They have rattle snake, rabbit, duck, to even buffalo. They all taste great. Despite the exotic meats used, they paired it really well with their spices so it masks some of the gamey taste. You can order more sauce like the aioli or grain mustard. Yup, mustard in grain form! Overall definitely recommend trying out the exotic sausages if you have the opportunity. I know the line outside is always super long, so if it's just you and a few people, maybe check out the bar area since you can order food their too.
