I ordered the Beef short Rib and Gyoza to go and when i got to my car i decided i couldn’t wait to get home and eat so i ate in my car. The beef short rib was okay but the gyoza tastes like burnt food and bitter like they don’t clean their pan when they pan fry the Gyoza. I was able to get a refund on the Gyoza but all the said was thats the way it’s supposed to taste. They should clean the pan at least is all im saying. Nobody wants eat all the left over burnt gunk from other food. Service: Take out Meal type: Dinner Price per person: $20–30 Food: 2 Service: 3 Atmosphere: 5

Fantastic sushi! Fish was fresh and rolls were flavorful. Good selection of rolls as well. Ramen was good, and we appreciated the small version so that we could still enjoy other items on the menu. Didn't care for the miso soup but the edamame was good . Service was attentive and friendly. Will definitely be back! Oh gosh, when it comes to Yama Izakaya & Sushi you just really have to know what to order and what to avoid I suppose. I have been a fan of Yama ever since they were "Sushiyama" on Forest Ln several years ago before they branched out and opened different chains around the Dallas area. I also love izakayas and izakaya style dining (ordering small dishes or tapas to share amongst your dining party). That being said, I figured I could trust Yama to put out some good dishes and there WERE some dishes we ordered that we really enjoyed but also some dishes that were just no bueno. The good: 1) Pork cheek yakitori - perfectly grilled juicy pieces of pork cheek slightly marinated with a sprinkle of salt that accentuated the pork flavors. Yuuumm! 2) Takoyaki - pretty much your standard fried octopus balls but overall enjoyable and tasty. No complaints. 3) Buta-Kakuni - probably my favorite dish we ordered. Really tender, large chunks of pork belly. Flavors were good and the meat was really soft and tender. The not-so-good: 1) Yakitori sampler - all types of chicken skewers...chicken skin, heart, breast, wing, etc. I would definitely pass on this though. None of the skewers had much flavor and definitely needed the accompanying dipping sauces. The chicken heart had a terrible texture which was very unpleasant. 2) Beef Croquette - the croquette was filled with potato and ground beef and panko crusted. We weren't fans. It came with 2 sizable croquettes but between my party of 3 we only ate half of one croquette because it just did not taste very good. The ground beef just was kinda off-putting. 3) Japanese sausage - this dish was basically like 5 small grilled hotdogs with a slightly sweet taste to them. That outer portion of the sausage was a little hard to bite into and looked nothing like the picture in the menu. It also came with fries which were meh. Just average: 1) Beef tongue - taste was ok but it was overcooked which ruined the texture. You cannot overcook beef or else it just kinda ruins it...it was pretty tough so it was hard to enjoy. Not worth the money. 2) Kawa-Ebi (flash fried small shrimps) - these were fun to munch on but it had this sourness to it that wasn't my cup of tea...it came with a lemon wedge but I thought it was sour enough without it. 3) Chicken Kara-age - the chicken was borderline over-fried. The chicken wasn't as juicy and tender as it should have been. I also thought it was lacking in flavor and definitely needed spicy mayo to dip in.
