Escudella is a traditional Catalan soup (or stew) with meat. One of the first soups mentioned in Europe.
It consists of a 'pilota', a very big meatball seasoned with garlic and parsley and seasonal vegetables. In historical times, the dish was called 'Escudel de Paz', it included pasta and rice, traditionally cooked on Thursdays and Sundays.
