Barmouth is a seaside town in the northwestern part of Wales where the Mawddach estuary enters Cardigan Bay. The word “Barmouth” or “Barmo” has been derived from the town’s original Welsh name “Abermawddach” or “Abermawdd” which refers to the mouth of the estuary (aber) on the river Mawddach. This area is famous for its picturesque harbour, offering breathtaking views of Cardigan Bay. Barmouth is a beloved summer destination as the town’s beach is west-facing and is ideal for watersports and sunbathing. Along the vast promenade, there are traditional donkey rides, swing boats, and amusement arcades.

The Barmouth Bridge and the Snowdonia National park offer popular walking tours with stunning views of the beach and mountains.  Barmouth has a colossal variety of places to eat ranging from fine dining establishments, excellent restaurants with home-cooked food using locally sourced products, award-winning fish and chips shops, and pub dishes in unique and cozy atmospheres. No vacation is complete without some amazing food at a cozy restaurant, so here is a list of our top recommendations for you to try in Barmouth.
