Really glad we found this place. Assume the owners are from Italy as the Roman style pizza & focaccia bread was truly authentic and made with high quality fresh ingredients!

Every so often, I would enjoy a good bite of Roman-style pizza. il Romanista doesn't disappoint in this arena. Their pizza features a variety of unique flavorful toppings. For my first slice, I got Peperonata -- tomato sauce, roasted bell peppers, sausage, mozzarella, oregano, and basil. For my second slice, I ordered the Palatino -- mozzarella, mushrooms, provolone, porcini mushrooms, parsley. For those of you not familiar with Roman-style pizzas, they tend to come in slightly thicker rectangles and the they're all about the crunch. To achieve this texture, the pizza are already fully baked when a customer selects them on display. As soon as a slice is ordered, they're roasted again. You'll immediately notice the effects on first bite and it's a nice change from the usual. Of course, if you find that the pizza is too tough, you can always ask them not to roast it again next time. They pizza on display are already quite fresh and hot. One side note... on the day I went, it got kind of smoky inside. Maybe that's normal here.

Hey Warren, I’m very glad you enjoyed our pizza! The Palatino is definitely my favorite. As for the smokiness, that isn’t a normal occurrence. It can happen once in a while when we are extremely busy, an effect of continuously reheating slices and oils from the cheese hitting the stone floor of the oven.
