After visiting Quicama National Park, you may have a meal at Saltish. This place serves Indian cuisine. A lot of people point out that waiters serve tasty beef and perfectly cooked chicken here.
Lunch: If you can track this food truck down, it's the best Indian food on wheels in Downtown Honolulu. It's not your usual sloppily cooked food for the masses. Care is put into their dishes and you can taste the difference.
I dunno what's up with the name but who cares - the food rocks. I found this nice, clean truck nearby and got a friendly hello so I decided to give it a try. Chicken masala was at the top of the menu so I went with that. Great stuff ! Clean full flavors and super tasty without being a massive heat bomb. Must try more!! to be continued ... Woohoo -! More chicken! The menu said beef curry and I asked they had chicken curry.. "No chicken curry but we have chicken meatballs ... they're homemade", was the reply. And indeed they were. Wowza *Yum*full of flavor, moist, great sauce and just a little bit spicy. Veggies and rice $11 A definite winner. I'll be back.
Saltish?... more like delish !! HAHA. Today was my first time here, it was parked in halekauwila, diamond head of punchbowl. The truck is really clean and the proprietor is friendly and helpful. When I couldn't decide, he asked if I had dietary restrictions, then offered to make a combination chicken- vegetable plate. The rice is perfectly seasoned and comes with a lightly pickled salad. There is also a little cup of yogurt mint sauce, delicious. $9.99 and it's definitely a two-day lunch.
