We went last evening, to celebrate our anniversary. 1. Service: impecable! 2. Atmosphere: as another rater said, the only worth while tables are the ones close to the windows. The other ones are situated in a cold, inhospitable manner in the rest of the space, as if instead of diners they were expecting a crowd of card players. All tables for 4 people, nothing separating them to create a warmer environment. I read this as a sign of not caring, since a few large plants would have solved this issue. 3. Food: ah yes, here comes the big problem! We started with (and shared) the Rocha camarones, nicely sized yet bland, and worst of all not deveined. Meaning: it contained the animal's intestine inside with its fecal matter. This, in a restaurant that presents itself as high cuisine is a blemish hard to forgive. Had we not been so hungry, we would have sent it back. For our main course were given dry, reheated, and in my husband's case overcooked food. My steak, though correctly cooked, was inexplicably tough! It came with a tiny side of potatoes mille feuille, which was disproportionately small for the size of my meal and left me hungry. My husband's catch of the day was "lisa". We rarely bother to make it at home, but he was in the mood for fish, so he decided to try it. Not worth it. All of these dishes were lukewarm when served to us. The exception was dessert: "chocolate and mint", really good. They added some other small desserts in a dish which had a "felicidades" written with chocolate, a nice touch. Overall, the menu is short, lazy ( mediocre, lacks imagination) and the food, poorly prepared. I have to add that bringing a bread basket and a bottle of olive oil to the table does not constitute a pre appetizer treat. What did they expect us to do with that? Eat bread and oil? If this is the best that chef Matsumoto can do, they are in real trouble. This beautiful hotel deserves a much better restaurant than this one. We were a group of 7 for a special occasion (birthday breakfast). The atmosphere is absolutely beautiful old world, with the water right in front of the hotel. The wait staff were very obliging and friendly and the breakfast was fantastic. It included pancakes, eggs bacon and sausages, hashbrowns, a selection of cereals and fresh fruit, outstanding was the selection of juices including a green detox and also betroot/carrot. A selection of pastries, breads, cheeses and cold meats, and the wait staff will take your order for other kinds of eggs (poached/omelette/fried). They gave special attention to the birthday guest, bring out a little cake and singing happy birthday. Thoroughly recommend if you want a special experience! January 4, 2025 We were looking forward, after reading the reviews, to enjoying dinner at 1921 Restaurant at the Sofitel Carrasco Hotel, as soon as we took a look at the menu, which was not impressive or eye catching or at par to the upscale location with a renowned Chef at the helm , we finally decided what to eat. We started with a, carrot orange ginger soup that was just OK followed with a non impressive Caprese salad , our main dishes were fish ( catch of the day ) for my wife that was edible but non impressive as well, far away from being gourmet as you might’ve expected, myself I chose the lamb dish which consisted of 3 medallions of lamb meat , nice size and meaty but the look of it was far from making your mouth water I confirmed my suspicion at the first bite , I knew to begin with that this was a slow cooked lamb , overcooked it was indeed ( 3 to 5 days ? ) I did my best to try to like it and convince myself that this was a good meal, with each bite I was getting angry and angrier to the point I could not stand it any longer. I am sorry that I was not too kind to the Maitre D’, it was not his fault, after all, that this meal was a disaster short of being any decent food that could be served at a neighborhood coffee shop let alone a establishment that prides itself of being the cream of the crop. Chef Maximiliano Matsumoto , shame on you and your cuisine . You and you alone will bring this location to a disastrous closure. No wander there were not many diners on a Friday night at this gorgeous dining room that you seem not to give your dedication or care about . Walter and Tamara Disappointed customers, NYC PS.- Chef special suggestion of the day : Morcillas ? Give me a break !!! you’d better go to the UK and ask for a blood sausage at any local street food cart . Service: Dine in Food: 1 Service: 4 Atmosphere: 4
