It’s such a cool and unique place! The owner is great, and the bar staff have amazing teamwork. For any foreigners complaining about the entrance fee, please understand that most bars in Japan charge one — it’s a way to support the artists and the venue. If you want to get off the tourist circuit and find the coolest expression of local Kyoto, then 1G is a godsend. Bancho, the owner, is a living legend of the Kyoto party scene. The DJ’s are always superb, just check the speakers if you want to know how much they prioritize good music. Aesthetically 1G is mind blowing. Built into the ground floor of a regular house, but with reinforced walls and an industrial refrigerator door, the moment you enter, you enter a different world! Try the mojito’s… a speciality!
