I am so confused, now mind you this is my first time at 4th Street and I will give it another chance, but here goes. The selection in downtown Clarksburg is quite limited and haven tried almost everything there is, I opted for a newly re-opened(?) place called 4th St. and you guessed it, right on 4th St. in fact the address is 123 S. Fourth Street so I thought that was pretty neat. I walked inside to a large room with a few tables on either side, a small dance floor (?) and a bar, seeing no one to seat me I walked towards the bar and saw that there is yet another large room on the other side with a doorway opening so I walked in there and this spot had yet another bar. In total there was about a dozen people for lunch @ 12:25. I saw an older gentleman taking an order so I stood near him until he was done and I told him I called in an order and then I went and had a seat, this is where the confusion sets in. There are around 8-10 TVs spread out through both rooms and music was playing at first I didn't pay attention but then 2 PACs "How do you want it?" started playing, now I may not look like I like old school rap, but 2 PAC is in the top five of all artists in my book, then I noticed the video was playing for the song let me just say this even the edited version is very adult oriented, I mean after all the song is called How do you want it? Before this Blurred Lines played and though I didn't look at the video another patron told the guy, who happened to be the owner that it was the explicit version, not really suitable for a lunch time showing. He apologized and said that it was his weekend playlist for the night and he would quickly change it, I think it is just youtube playlist, The owner was running around getting orders and would tell each table that his server walked out (I don't know when) but you need to get one fast. Two people (Owner/Server and the Cook) can't run a restaurant well they can, it just won't be efficient. After apologizing to everyone he offered me a complimentary tea or soda since I had been waiting a while, I told him no thank you, just a water. A few minutes went by and he brings another table their drinks (they were there before me) and then comes back and brings out a key lime pie in a jar complimentary for that table since they had a child, during this he forgot my water. It wasn't until he brought my to go plate that he realized he didn't bring me my water and he did apologize again. I felt bad for him and feel especially bad after eating my Steak Hoagie as the other Yelper recommended. Why do I feel bad? The hoagie was great, it wasn't your cheap steak meat most places use, the bread was "upscale" everything had flavor, the cheese, peppers, steak, bread and perfectly cooked with the cheese having that perfect slightly brown top from baking/broiling it. The other table had the super burger and it looked great and they said it was really good as well. I'm not sure what this place is trying to be, it was like being on a boat that is sinking and one guy is bailing the water out and your almost at the destination but you know it is going to sink. Get a couple waitresses, a bartender advertise via social media and watch it grow, of course hire another cook as well, because one isn't going to cut it. The menu is luckily small (but has the essentials) which is manageable for a small staff. All and all I will be back and adjust my rating then.
Tried this place for lunch. I ordered the meatball platter and a side salad with lemon vinaigrette. The meatballs were delicious. I kind of regretted not ordering the meatball hoagie. I also got a salad with the lemon vinaigrette, which was really interesting. The salad was fresh and crisp. I would recommend it. My coworker got a steak hoagie, which came with a bacon ranch pasta salad and she thoroughly enjoyed it. Another coworker got the BLT, and coleslaw, and she did not enjoy either. The place is clean and comfortable. The staff were friendly. The owner came over to tell us about the night club which is open on the weekends. It sounds fun! The restaurant has a small menu with new lunch specials each day. I look forward to returning. I think this place has potential to be five stars.
