The Japanese fried chicken here is absolutely lit! Also super friendly staff and Colm the owner is so welcoming, bubbly and kind. This place is a gem in Calgary and I'm so glad my brother took me here when I visited! I will absolutely be returning as soon as I can :) Keep being amazing!

5S17 is a trendy Japanese restaurant on 17th ave. Although their menu is more ramen based I decided to try a couple creative dishes offered by this restaurant. We order the AFC chicken appetizer, steak bites and poke bowl. The AFC chicken came with fried chicken thighs with a mayo sauce on top. This was was delicious as the creamy sauce complements the chicken. The steak bites were okay but I liked the poke bowl. The poke bowl was a deconstructed ramen / rice without the soup. I ordered red tuna (sliced) with kelp, kale, wasabi sauce and ramen. Visually this was nicely presented and the flavors went well together. We were frequently checked on as well so the service was good. I'd recommend trying this place out if you want to try something new.
