Recommended by our tour guide if we wanted a place to eat away from tourists and amongst locals. It was exactly how he explained. Buffet style menu where you pay a set Price and choose a drink, soup, salad, main item, starch, and vegetable. I paid less than 10 euros and had a full Latvian meal. Meal also came with bread. A pretty good deal. Recommended in Riga old center. Price per person: €5–10

Hidden gem alert 77 Krēsli in Riga totally surprised me in the best way. It doesn’t even show up when you search food nearby, but it has a 4.7 on Google for a reason. It’s one of those no-frills, family-run spots that isn’t trying to be Instagrammable, it’s just good. For €7.50 I walked out full which is rare in Riga. The vibe? Total character. No two tables match, it’s cafeteria style, and it feels like eating in someone’s eclectic Latvian kitchen. I tried the local beet soup (bright pink and proud) and chicken liver, both super flavorful and traditional. You can do à la carte or go for a full meal set.
