I recently dined at A Ribeira Alvor with a party of 12, and unfortunately, our experience was far from satisfactory. We had a reservation for 9 PM and arrived on time, but were told we would need to wait 30 minutes as the restaurant was busy. This wait extended to almost 50 minutes, and we were not notified of any delays beforehand, leaving us to wait outside the restaurant. The service was disappointing from the start. The waitress was rude and did not apologize once for the delay. When we finally got seated, the problems continued. Our octopus salad, ordered with the other starters, was forgotten. We also had to remind the staff three times to bring our water. Additionally, my main dish arrived 20 minutes later than everyone else’s, and the shrimp was mushy and overly salty. When we tried to address these issues with the waitress, she was dismissive and refused to talk to us, blaming the problems on normal restaurant issues and implying that we too cannot do our jobs 100% correctly. This lack of accountability and poor customer service ruined what should have been an enjoyable evening. If A Ribeira Alvor cannot handle large groups, they should not accept such reservations. Our experience was marred by delays, poor service, and subpar food quality. I cannot recommend this restaurant based on our experience.
