Very good paella, you know the chef loves their job when the vegetarian paella is a tad better than the sea food paella. The tapas were on par but not exceptional. Personally I would have preferred the service to recommend the matching wine in this lovely cellar-like restaurant. Meal type: Dinner Price per person: €40–50 Food: 5 Service: 4 Atmosphere: 4

I'd been meaning to try this place for years, but the thought of heading into the crowded, touristy streets of Raval and Ciutat Vella was always enough to keep me away. Since they've pivoted to catering and pop-ups at neighbourhood markets around the Barcelona metropolitan area, they've become much more accessible, including for me. I finally visited their stand at Mercantic and was happy to find that, even after 15 years, they still live up to the hype. The food is fresh, simple, and full of flavour, with Mediterranean and Balkan influences. Prices are reasonable, and the people serving it seem to genuinely enjoy what they do. I hope I'll get the chance to catch them again and work my way through more of the menu. In the meantime, I can definitely recommend the falafel, the baklava, and the feta pastry.
