The pros and cons for relocating from San Francisco to Palma included abandoning our favorite sushi restaurant, which we visited regularly over two decades. Indeed, we missed it for nearly 18 months, until we discovered Aburi. This small establishment in Santa Catalina, run by a delightful couple, offers a culinary experience worthy of multi stars. The set menu varies with the freshest possible fish available. Most offerings are slightly seared (the meaning of ABURI) and accompanied by delicate sauces and garnishes. Each visit has been pure delight! Palma's Aburi has become my favorite restaurant EVER! Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

Sushi lovers will adore the dining experience at Aburi. It starts with the welcoming charm of the owner/chef/staff flows through the every bite of the lovingly prepared, sometimes flame touched tasting menu. Just one seating per table and a fine dining experience that is meant to be savored over a two hours. Be sure to make a reservation as seating ate limited. Perfect for special occasions or date nights to impress. A dining experience not to be missed. Price per person: €60–70 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5 Dietary restrictions: The fixed menu was adapted to remove shellfish and eel for one in our party without any stress or loss of experience.

Come to this restaurant if you want a genuinely fantastic experience and not just a delicious meal. I'm a chef and naturally pretty hard to impress. Overly complicated dishes and style over substance really turn me off with a lot of restaurants in Mallorca, but Aburi is the absolute opposite of that. I couldn't fault the menu, the freshness, the presentation, or the skill employed to get every bit of flavor out of each plate. Each dish was carefully prepared to bring out the very essence of the ingredients and presented with genuine care and sensitivity. Beyond the kitchen, we were made to feel incredibly welcome by both the chef and the hostess, who guided us with spot-on sake recommendations, explained each course as it arrived, and happily answered all our questions. When you finish a meal and remember every single dish, but can't possibly pick a favorite, you know you're onto a winner. That said, the eel was incredible, but so was the charcoal-seared nigiri, the scallop temaki, the tuna with black mushroom and egg yolk, and the BBQ pear dessert... We will definitely be going back and wholeheartedly recommend Aburi to anybody looking for a truly special meal. Price per person: €70–80 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5
