Popped in with my Nan who grew up in Adavale. Kossie helped us find her cousin’s place, and shared a cup of tea and fruit cake with us. A lovely fella in a lovely town. I’ll definitely be back again to try the fish and chips!

This is Australia’s last great adventure, where the laws of nature, man, and postal efficiency collide in a 1,000km radius of pure, untamed wilderness. The Quest for the Mail Begins Picture this: You wake up one morning in the middle of nowhere (also known as Adavale). The sun is already trying to bake you alive, the flies are forming strategic dive-bomb formations around your face, and you suddenly remember—you’ve got a parcel to pick up. This would be a simple task in, say, a city. But here? This is a survival challenge. First, you check your supplies. Water bottle? Check. Sun hat? Check. A strong sense of determination bordering on madness? Double check. Because getting to the only post office for 1,000km is going to require mental fortitude, survival skills, and the ability to punch a kangaroo if necessary (metaphorically speaking, of course). The Battle with the Wildlife You set off, dodging the first obstacle—the emus. These overgrown, prehistoric-looking chickens are already eyeing you off from the side of the road. They know you’re up to something. They don’t trust you. They don’t trust anyone. One wrong move, and they’ll form a gang. Nobody has time for that.
