Ramen Akatsuki is a small, local ramen shop in Kyoto’s Kitashirakawa area, near Kyoto University. It’s not a touristy place, which makes it feel very authentic. I ordered the regular ramen (nami), and the broth was a great surprise. It looks rich, but the flavor is actually light and clean. Easy to finish without feeling heavy. The noodles are thin and smooth, and the chashu is more on the lean and tender side rather than fatty. The shop is small (around 10 seats), but cozy and efficient. Prices are very reasonable—perfect for students and budget travelers. Also, it’s open until 3 AM, which is rare in Kyoto. Cash only, and English isn’t guaranteed, but ordering is simple. If you want a quiet, everyday ramen experience in Kyoto, this is a great spot. Meal type: Lunch Price per person: ¥1–1,000 Food: 4 Service: 3 Atmosphere: 3
