Ramen Akihide is one of the most unique ramen experiences I’ve had in Kyoto. There are no fixed opening hours, so you have to check their X (Twitter) account shortly before they open. That alone makes it feel like a small adventure. The shop is tiny with only counter seating, but the atmosphere is calm and welcoming. The owner and his wife were very kind, even though I don’t speak much Japanese. I ordered the Jun Noko Ramen, and it was incredibly rich and full of flavor. What surprised me most was how clean it felt after eating — not too heavy, not overly salty, just balanced. If you’re a ramen fan and don’t mind a bit of uncertainty, this place is absolutely worth trying. Just make sure to bring cash and go as soon as they announce they’re open. -1 star cos they open randomly Food is 5 stars, simple perfection Their ramen changes each time they open. What does change is their humongous portion. Their mini is bigger than most places' regular Today is simple salty soup, simple noodles that's not particularly good, but really works. Char siu is quite good, Hamburg is fine, wok fried veggies are generous and quite well fried. Not to mention they fry each bowl's veggies individually it seems For the price, for the taste, there's good reason why they're always full despite their silly opening times, due to their hardcore fans Second visit: Mini portion is enough for a normal grown man if you're not Japanese, I've no idea how they manage to eat so much Food: 5
