In April 2026. while walking down Rue Amrah from Place de la Kasbah, I spotted an outdoor café-restaurant called Al Campo, with an Argentinian-French cuisine. I went inside to look at the menu and met the owner, Camille, a charming French woman who speaks English, and her business partner and chef, Paola, from Buenos Aires, Argentina. There are no seats inside, only a small area where you give your order, and the kitchen. There are several small round tables outside that seat from one to three people. When I first discovered Al Campo, I was not planning to eat there, but I was definitely intrigued by the menu, so a few days later I went again to eat with a German friend who Iives nearby on Rue Amrah. We both decided to order the vegetable soup, made with puréed roasted vegetables and served with a small bowl of home-made croutons. I ordered a Vitamin Shot made with ginger, orange juice and lemon. The soup was slightly spicy and absolutely delicious, and we were promptly served, with a smile. It was wonderful and we were delighted. The prices are lower than several crowded tourist traps in the Kasbah. I like Al Campo for its simplicity and relaxed atmosphere and especially for its delicious and healthful food, at very reasonable prices. Technically, Al Campo is in the upper Medina since the restaurant is outside the tall stone walls and archway of nearby Bab Haha, but there is a Kasbah feel. Al Campo restaurant is located on Place Amrah between Café Baba and Le Salon Bleu. I happen to love avocados, and here they are an ingredient of several menu items. On my second visit in early May, I arrived around lunchtime and sat in the sunshine. My table had a single rose in a tall vase. The French owner took my order: smashed avocado on two slices of perfectly toasted whole-grain bread. I also ordered croquettes filled with ricotta cheese, and an espresso and another Vitamin Shot. It too was absolutely delicious. After a few minutes, I spotted a Moroccan friend who works nearby, so I called his name and invited him to sit with me for a coffee break. On another visit I ordered guacamole with bread sticks and it was tasty, but not quite as spicy as I prefer. Maybe it needed a bit more garlic. Al Campo opens at 10:00 AM and closes at 6:00 PM. It is closed on Monday and Tuesday. Credit and debit cards are accepted, and the restaurant has strong WiFi. Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5
