Tom we are sorry you didn't like the taste of our champagne cake. This flavor is in the top three of our requested cakes for special occasions and has been a staple to our menu for the 15 years we have been in business. We take feedback seriously and felt when you called yesterday we were respectful to you, listened to your feedback while not interjecting and ended on a good note. I apologize if you felt that wasn't the case. We absolutely regret your order was not ready at the agreed upon time. Unfortunately, we had a delivery person call out last minute. We appreciated your patience and understanding you voiced during the call and thank you for accepting our apology for the delay. We do not hide the fact we produce from a local centralized kitchen for production of our products. This is the most cost effective way to run our business vs having a kitchen in each store front and cost associated with running multiple kitchens. The base cost for our 6" cakes is $34 with crumb sides. Crumb sides options take less time and materials to prepare than what you requested. When there is a change to our standard products, we consider those a special order and additional charges are applied to prepare the cake as requested. The additional costs for special orders is based on additional time, materials used, and for our Wasilla location sales tax we are obligated to include. Our website and employees are always upfront with the 48 hours that special orders require to prepare as well as the costs. Our special orders require 48 hours as they are prepared fresh for our clients and to their specific requests. We would love to "lower our prices" as you suggest and still provide a quality product. However, our raw material costs such as eggs, heavy cream, flour, sugar etc. have risen significantly. Additionally when society advocates that businesses pay "livable wages", those increases must be included into the cost of our products...which regrettably increases the costs to our consumers. I hope this addresses the concerns you outlayed in our 1 star review. We understand that majority of the time we hit our consumers expecations and sometimes we don't. But we always strive to continue to provide a quality product.
