Disappointing experience at Wednesday Paella event. Went to ALBARINO Tapas in Broadstairs for the Wednesday afternoon paella event and left very disappointed. The food didn’t feel like Spanish cuisine at all. For starters we got a single square of bread with a spoonful of chopped tomato, followed by 4 steamed baby peppers and a lettuce salad with walnuts, pear and blue cheese that was pretty much inedible. The paella itself was cold, sticky, and had a curry-like flavour. It had stinky mussels, pre-cooked clams, and a piece of chicken with the skin still on. The sangria was basically non-alcoholic fruit juice. For £100 for the meal, I expected much better. I feel sorry for anyone trying to work in that kitchen. Wouldn’t recommend and won’t be going back. Hi, Sorry that you did not enjoy your experience with us. I do not recognise your description of your meal. We do not serve paella in the afternoons, we are open in the evenings only. Your description of the dishes you received are not accurate. You failed to mention that the menu includes olives, Habas picante. There are no steamed peppers on the menu and your description of the paella does not sound remotely similar to the paella we make to order. The ingredients and the quality of the ingredients you mention are all inaccurate. Thanks Regards

We had a very enjoyable evening at Albariño. All the dishes we ordered were delicious and it was nice to see some more unusual choices. The restaurant is small with a lovely intimate atmosphere which was enhanced by the friendly staff who looked after us very well. We will return to Albariño when we next visit Broadstairs.
