Michelin Guide rating

Michelin selection.

Aleisha serves pan-Mediterranean fare with a Middle Eastern twist in wittily named dishes that add to the fun. A sea urchin shooter (dubbed "See Your Chin") captures the essence of the sea in one bite thanks to accompaniments such as toasted nori, pickled seaweed and crabmeat. "Pigaboo" is another standout: juicy slow-cooked pork dusted with the spice sumac for citrus tartness... More info

Aleisha gets a lot right - while I wouldn't characterize the food as 'Mediterranean' (I'd go with 'Mediterranean-tinged Taiwanese fusion'), the flavorful, creamy textures for its long course menu are well executed. Theatrics - pouring, lighting, etc. are also good - and not to be missed are the tiny hints of contrasting ingredients in each dish. The restaurant could do with an upgrade of its wine selection - both recommended bottles were mediocre - and the place was uncomfortably warm for a high end restaurant despite it being a cooler, rainy day outside. Overall though, well worth a try, particularly while the restaurant's star hunting has yet to succeed, making the price and availability reasonable. Price per person: NT$2,000+ Food: 4 Service: 4 Atmosphere: 4

After seeing the online introduction, I made an impromptu reservation at Aleisha’, a newly opened Middle Eastern style fine dining restaurant that is rare in Taiwan. I ordered a six-course set meal with four glasses of wine. The food was beyond expectation and full of exotic flavor. The only drawback was that the service was a little rushed. Highly recommended to gourmets who are willing to try new things. Service: Dine in Meal type: Dinner Price per person: NT$2,000+ Food: 5 Service: 4 Atmosphere: 5
