A Hidden Gem in Tai Hang: Alo Restobar – A Memorable Culinary Journey Recently visited Alo Restobar in Tai Hang with friends and tried several of their signature dishes. This place is truly one of the hidden high-quality Western restaurants on Hong Kong Island! The décor and atmosphere are stylish and sophisticated, making it perfect for a romantic date, birthday celebration, or a gathering with friends. ️ Starters Octopus with Crispy Kale and Roasted Bell Pepper Sauce The octopus was cooked perfectly—tender yet pleasantly chewy, not dry or tough at all. The kale was fried to a satisfying crisp, and paired with a smoky roasted bell pepper sauce, it was a flavorful and appetizing start to the meal. White Wine Clams (US Manila Clams) Cooked with white wine, garlic, and tomatoes, the clams were plump, sweet, and generous in portion. The best part was the broth—rich, savory, and fragrant with tomato, so delicious we almost finished every drop! Mains Beef Tartare & Bone Marrow ($288) The bone marrow was roasted until fragrant and golden, topped with crispy breadcrumbs. It was rich, buttery, and melted in the mouth. The beef tartare was finely chopped and seasoned with a hint of acidity and spice, perfectly balanced. Served with crispy toast, it was rich yet not overwhelming—a must-try for beef lovers. Signature Roasted Suckling Pig The suckling pig skin was roasted to perfection—crispy and crackling, while the meat remained tender and juicy. Well-seasoned without being too salty, this was a truly memorable dish. Beef Short Rib Slow-cooked for 18 hours, the beef short rib was almost boneless and melted in the mouth. Each bite was flavorful and satisfying, complemented by a well-balanced sauce. Overall Experience Every dish reflected the chef’s dedication and skill, using high-quality ingredients and expert techniques to create rich, layered flavors. The restaurant offers a comfortable ambiance and attentive service, making it a place worth revisiting. If you’re looking for a stylish and high-quality Western restaurant in Tai Hang, Alo Restobar is an excellent choice! Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5
