Amalthea is pretty near Hafiz Ahmed Agha Library. Most guests suppose that you can order good pasta and perfectly cooked fish here. Visitors don't like wine and smoothies at this restaurant.
Amalthea is well known for its great service and friendly staff, that is always ready to help you. From the guests' point of view, the real drawback is medium prices. In accordance with the reviewers' opinions, atmosphere is calm here. Clients rate this place below average on Google.

Stumbled across this place when trying to find somewhere with enough vegetarian options for my partner as well as meat options for me. The courtyard looked picturesque and the menu was vast enough so we decided to give it a go. We should have looked at the Google reviews first. Firstly, they didn't have anything I wanted from the menu available. Not having hummus should be a crime. I order some kind of meatball and rice dish that the server recommended. When it came out, it had no rice but instead had cheap pasta and a tomato sauce that tasted like it came from a can. It was covered in dried oregano which was frankly disgusting. The one meatball that was in it wasn't even cooked all the way through, so I left it. I was recommended a dish with meatballs (plural), not meatball (singular). Honestly disgusting food and I can't recommend avoiding this place enough. Overpriced and unpalatable. Also one of the servers was rude to my partner and lied about the toilet being cleaned so she couldn't go in. Avoid, avoid, avoid. I went there this morning and asked for something fresh, like a croissant. The lady who works there said they had one and brought me one for €6. I was already surprised by how expensive a croissant can be, but after seeing that it was from a grocery store and not freshly made, I was really disappointed. That’s not how you treat your customers. €6 for a grocery store croissant that I could have bought myself for €1? Do better.

I regret having to write this review, but feel compelled to share our experience at Amalthea restaurant. My wife and I visited recently, and what unfolded was deeply troubling. The establishment appears to be operated by a mother and daughter. Upon arrival, the daughter greeted us politely and seated us. The setting was pleasant, with sunny weather and light conversation. However, concerns arose when I requested a detailed receipt and was initially refused. When a receipt was eventually provided, it consisted only of till numbers, lacking any breakdown of items ordered. As she verbally listed the charges, they did not align with the printed figures - each item was priced higher than what was stated on the menu, often by one, two or even three euros. I calmly expressed confusion and asked for clarification. Rather than addressing the discrepancy, the staff member became hostile, shouting almost instantly at us to pay and leave, despite the fact that we still had drinks and dessert on the table. During this exchange, she directed a racial slur at me. An older woman, presumably her mother, joined in the shouting. The situation escalated rapidly and aggressively. Much to our confusion we paid the extortionate bill to get out of there ASAP. Maybe that’s how they operate their business? My wife, who is heavily pregnant, was left visibly distressed and in tears. After having our meal we went back to our hotel as she was visibly shaken. The experience was not only upsetting but entirely unjustified. Based on what occurred, I believe this establishment warrants serious scrutiny. I’ve noticed some reviews dismiss negative experiences as ignorance, such as culture differences or lack of being able to charge phones or the fact it’s cash only (which wasn’t the issue, however, should be addressed upon arrival). That stance is itself dismissive and fails to acknowledge the harm others may have endured. Our conduct throughout was respectful, and I refuse lower myself to their calibre, nor shall I be expected to accept mistreatment simply because I am a tourist, nor should anyone. Save yourself the painful experience and go elsewhere. The food was also very mediocre and forgettable. My negroni was also not a negroni at all. Overall a horrifying experience. Would give zero stars if I could. Needn’t to say the people who were waiting to be seated upon the steps watched the horror unfold and went elsewhere. Also, a very kind couple consoling my wife, thank you to you for making an awful experience somewhat less traumatic. They also stated to us they were disgusted with what they’d witnessed and were glad it wasn’t them. Please do better - I understand we share different cultures and beliefs but let’s at the minimum not use racial slurs - I deem that very, very low. Food: 1 Service: 1 Atmosphere: 1
