I've recently ate at Amare's restaurant at Royce hotel and casino in Clark, Angeles City Philippines and surprisingly had the best Italian food outside of Italy. The bistecca wa perfectly cooked, the risotto was divine, the pasta was al dente and the sauce was excellent it has just a hint of sweetness and the right amount of tartness. The only comment was the servers are not knowledgeable with the dishes and are quite inept around the table.

DINING OUT DURING A PANDEMIC I've been dying to try out Amare by Chef Chris ever since my friends, who lived in Italy, had recommended this place. My sweet hubby brought me here to celebrate my 55th bday. The restaurant is to the right of the hotel lobby. The restaurant staff allowed us to sit across from each other instead of at different tables or catty corner from each other. The dining area was spacious and bright with interesting artwork. Staff are very attentive to details (topping off water, removing dirty dishes, offering to take our pictures); I felt I was back in the States! My only complaint was with one wait staff who had to keep running to others and the chef to ask about menu specifics; she was probably new so I didn't let it affect my rating. WE ORDERED - Bread - complimentary with entrees, but you need to request for it. It comes with fresh pesto and olive oil. - Cafe Mocha - made with Moak Italian coffee and Torani syrup. I liked it. - Shrimp Bisque - was very flavorful and full bodied. I could tell they used the shrimp heads because there was a slight bitterness to it. Something was missing though....ah! salt and pepper from a pepper mill; it made a HUGE difference! Topped with cream, a couple pieces of shrimp and a few crunchy croutons YUMMY! - Chicken wrapped in bacon served over penne pasta with walnut cream sauce and rapini. Delish! - Pork Saltimbocca - pork loin steak wrapped in parma ham, saffron risotto  listed port sauce but staff verified that Masala wine is used. This was very rich. - Trio (Dessert sampler) with chocolate lava cake with a scoop of vanilla ice cream, lemon cheesecake, pavlova Kai - this is their best seller with good reason. All three desserts complimented each other so well; except for the vanilla ice cream which wasn't sweet enough and tasted of butter. - Complimentary Birthday dessert (this is a rare occurrence in the Philippines)- Pavlova Kai - light, airy and delicately crisp meringue; layered with tart strawberry and kiwi slices; whipped cream and sliced almonds; with a drizzle of lemon sauce. The food was rich and the desserts decadent: after our meal, I was way too stuffed to do my happy food dance. I'm so excited to add another place to our select list of "special occasion" restaurants. COVID PRECAUTIONS: Located in the lobby of the Royce Hotel, you'll need to wear a mask and face shield for entrance. They have a hands free hand sanitizer dispenser and a mounted temp check machine, then handed a health questionnaire to fill out, finally you'll walk through a mist machine. Masked hotel staff with face shields and hazmat lookin clothing open doors and greet you warmly.
