I sat outside, in the pleasant coolness that has replaced the oppressive heat, and watched a social drama unfold . An older white British guy, maybe the patron but not sure , openly discussed his displeasure at events unfolding on the opposite side of the road , some 400m away. A greengrocer had a delivery to his shop, it had been unloaded to the pavement, completely blocking the pavement causing issues for pedestrians, not insuremountable , I had already observed it and crossed the road. Initially I showed interest in the guys understandable concerns on the H&S aspect, he stood outside talking loudly on his mobile to , I assume, a local civic officer and he quietened down when listening to responses, then ended the call. As he returned towards the café, he said to nobody in particular " I am fed up with those people being allowed to break the rules " maybe hoping to solicit a response from myself because we appear to be similar. I just shrugged and ignored him. I may look similar to him but I don't use the same "language" as him. Unfortunately his performance distracted from what was an otherwise pleasant experience. I always enjoy eating here. Staff are very nice and helpful. Food here is always lovely. Very nice and tasty. Air con is always nice when sitting down eating. Atmosphere is very chilled out. Staff are getting to know me well. When I order my food. Prices are very reasonable too I find. Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5 Meal type: Lunch

Very disappointing experience at Ancona Italian Coffee Shop on Friday 17.10.2025. I visited this morning for a coffee and was shocked by the manager’s behavior. She was rude, confrontational, and completely unprofessional—speaking to customers as if they were beneath her. It felt more like being shouted at in a stable than served in a café. Ancona, please train your staff appropriately. Basic respect and customer service should be the minimum standard. Service: 1 Atmosphere: 1 Meal type: Breakfast Price per person: £1–10
