I wasn't sure places like this existed anymore. This is a beautiful little pub that took me back many, many years. A traditional pub with years gone by decor but not distasteful, and the food was outstanding. It was a beautiful sunny day and was packed outside and comfortable inside. It would be best to book a table due to how busy it gets to avoid disappointment. Price per person: £30–40 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5 Recommended dishes: Meaty Gravy, Chips, Double Beef Burger

You might want to check they have pastry before ordering the pie….

Sat outside and partner went in to get menus. Member of staff gave him the menus.

Partner went in to order two pies (£14.99 each) and lasagne for the kids.

Pies were served to the table. We were busy settling children with their food and didn’t initially notice but the pie had no pastry?

Partner went back in and asked where the pastry was for the pie? Member of staff said sorry we’ve run out of pastry. So basically the pie was a ramekin of pie filling.

The fact that waiting staff had 3 opportunities to tell us that there was no pastry/pie; when we asked for menus, when we ordered and then when the meals came to the table and they didn’t. The fact kitchen staff are taking orders and putting meals together without all the ingredients is an absolute joke. It’s like a burger without a bun or lasagne without the pasta. Yet we paid and were charged full price for a pie without pastry.

Mentioned it again when plates were cleared and member of staff just said “sorry were you not told we didn’t have pastry”. Why are you even serving a pie without pastry?

Nothing was offered in compensation.

Won’t be returning or recommending.

The Angel Inn is / was an excellent country pub but there are serous issues that need fixing since the management have changed hands. Everyone is polite enough but here is a list of things from my visit on Sun 20 Mar 22:Car parking is an issue, it took me 20 mins to find a space half a mile away. There needs to be someone controlling the car park to stop those that are never intending to use the pub. This used to be supervised before the management changed over.Too many bookings in my opinion were taken, my table was not ready until 1430 despite booking it for 1400. The table next to us had the same issue. We had to ask for our order to be taken and then it took until 1525 for the food to arrive. Absolute shambles of a service. Had to ask for cutlery, no napkins and no offer of sauces etc......I hope the owner reads this and makes the changes required because it is or was an excellent pub!!!

Hi Alfie. Rest assured, we have read your review and feel really upset that you had such a bad experience. This is not what we want to hear as we are trying very hard to offer the best service we possibly can and so your feedback has been taken on board. We have been in for four months and have had some glorious reviews however yesterday was the busiest day we have had yet and it did take us by surprise. We had been fully booked for lunches for a few days but the volume of passing trade sitting outside was not anticipated. The car park was full as we were fully booked and I can only apologise that your table was not ready for you at 2pm. We do inform all our early sitting that we need to turn tables over by 2pm but there must have been a laspse in this yesterday. I just hope you enjoyed the meal despite the wait and give us a another chance to impress in the future despite our business model differing from the previous owners. Kindest regards
