Excellent food ..they offer much more than pizza. Well stocked bar too
Very nice service, the atmosphere was nice, the food was ok, just nothing special or amazing.
Our group of seven met for an early dinner. Our orders: coal fired chicken wings with caramelized onions and focaccia, family sized classic Italian salad, eggplant marino, and a roast beef sandwich. Friends warned us that Anthony's "well done" pizza actually translated to "burnt" so we avoided it. The chicken wings were roasted in the coal fired oven. I found the caramelized onions a strange accompaniment. If you're an onion lover, go for it. If you like chicken wings, you might want to get them somewhere else. The focaccia, which accompanied everything including bread for the so-so roast beef sandwich, was dry and tasteless. The Italian salad was romaine with chickpeas, black olives, tomatoes and either mozzarella or gorgonzola. We opted for mozzarella which was a small amount for such a large salad.Five of us had the eggplant marino which you could order in a small or large size. The menu said it was sliced thin. They weren't kidding. It was sliced so thin that when breaded and fried it had the texture of cardboard. I actually thought the eggplant was layered with bread until it was pointed out that the eggplant was breaded. A dollop of a tasty tomato sauce topped the eggplant, but there was not nearly enough to rescue the dish. Two of the five liked the dish and the remaining three rated at a four on a scale of one to ten.The best part of the meal was the cannoli and cappuccino. Clearwater and surrounding Pinellas County cities have a plethora of Italian restaurants; all much better than Anthony's Coal Fired Pizza. Note: this Anthony's only serves beer and wine and they have a good selection of both.
