We ate here twice during our japan trip and both times will be two of my favourite experiences in Japan. We don't speak any japanese and the staff doesn't speak a lot of english, but they have an english menu and figured out our orders by us pointing to it. We sat at the counter where you can watch the cooking happening which is very cool and impressive to see. The first time we looked in to see if there was space, two customers happily waved us in and we chatted some with them and another nice lady who recommended us a few places to visit. I struggled to cut the Okonomiyaki the first time because it sat on the hot plate while we were talking with the others for so long, and the cook kindly helped me cut it when he realized I was struggling. The second time the cook already recognized us from the last time and we managed to talk with google translator and a few gestures which was a lot of fun. All in all a very welcoming and cool experience, and the food is great too! Highly recommend eating here and engaging with the other customers and staff, they are very kind. The owner trained at Henkutsuya Shintenchi store and opened this store. Even by default, they will serve you a large and large amount of okonomiyaki. It's delicious with soba, noodles, or champon. We also have a wide variety of teppanyaki menus that you can enjoy while waiting for your okonomiyaki to be cooked. For dessert, I recommend soft serve ice cream, which comes in a variety of flavors. The owner seems to like professional baseball, and fans of various baseball teams come here. This is because professional baseball players and cheering groups used to come to Henkutsuya where I trained, so I started going to Aono as well.
