‏This was, without exaggeration, one of the most poorly handled dining experiences I’ve had in Sydney. ‏We had a confirmed 9:30 PM reservation at The Apollo Restaurant , with a stated 15-minute grace period and 1 hour 45 minutes seating time. ‏Due to a minor Uber delay, we arrived at approximately 9:52 PM — after receiving TWO calls from the restaurant: ‏* 9:36 PM: warning the kitchen was closing ‏* 9:51 PM: we clearly informed them we were already outside ‏Despite this, we were refused entry and told to leave immediately. ‏Let’s be clear: ‏If a restaurant accepts a 9:30 PM reservation, but effectively shuts down service at the same time, then the entire booking system is misleading. The advertised 15-minute holding policy appears meaningless in practice. ‏What made the situation worse was the behavior of the staff member (Charlotte): ‏* Refused to check with the kitchen ‏* Showed no willingness to accommodate ‏* Spoke in a dismissive, unprofessional manner ‏* Simply insisted we leave ‏There was no attempt at hospitality, no effort to resolve the situation — just a rigid and poorly handled interaction. ‏For a restaurant with this reputation, this reflects a serious gap in both operations and customer experience. ‏This isn’t about being a few minutes late — it’s about misaligned policies and how guests are treated when things aren’t perfectly scripted. ‏Management should urgently review: ‏* Why late reservations are offered if service cannot be provided ‏* How front-of-house staff are trained to handle real situations ‏* Whether the current approach reflects the standards expected of a leading Sydney venue ‏Unfortunately, based on this experience, I would not return. Apollo, Potts Point
The most fantastic Greek experience outside of Greece (and probably within much of Greece).
Every single item, from the cocktails to the coffee was thoughtful, generous and interesting.
Entrees:
The saganaki was generous, gooey, cheesy and sweet
The weed and cheese pie would give any Yaya’s spanakopita a run for it’s money
The moussaka re-defined the word

Mains:
The octopus, lamb shoulder and pork were the best we’ve had in or out of the Mediterranean.
We could eat the lemon rice as a side with everything we eat forever.
It’s hard to imagine a Greek salad being particularly special. The generosity of feta and zing of dressing even made this fantastic.

Dessert:
Avgolemono (lemon) pie, Semolina custard, Honey donuts made us wish we just came for 3 courses of dessert.

Cocktails:
PEARSEPHONE - AETHER VODKA, PEAR, ELDERFLOWER, CORIANDER – amazing
POSEIDON’S CURE - METAXA 7, LAGAVULIN, GINGER, HONEY, LEMON – I love my Lagavulin, and was hesitant that someone would mess with it – worth it
GOLDEN’S NEGRONI - FOUR PILLARS DRY GIN, ANIMUS MANDARINCELLO, BIANCO VERMOUTH, SUZE APERITIF – we have negronis at home and out, hard to get one that makes you go HMM. This one does.

Just go.
