Have been here a handful of times and ice cream and service has always been good despite the long line. This time around the line seemed to be shorter than normal… unfortunately we had about five groups of people in front of us and ended up waiting an hour and a half till we ordered because they let a group of 10 people try every single flavor on the menu. 10 people and only three out of those 10 left with ice cream. Inconsiderate of everyone on line. I absolutely think they need to cap people at 2 flavors to try especially when the line is super long like it was on Labor Day weekend. You know it’s a problem when everyone on line starts to clap when the group of 10 people finally left after an hour and a half. Insane. Please do better at keeping the line moving. By the time we went to order none of us had the appetite to even eat ice cream.

Applegate Farm is easily one of my favorite homemade ice cream spots in the NY/NJ area. You can really taste the difference in the texture and richness. Definitely try the Rum Raisin—super creamy, rich, and full of flavor without being overly sweet. It’s one of those flavors where keeping it simple is best. I’d actually skip the toppings here. The ice cream is good enough on its own, and too many toppings just cover up the flavor you came for in the first place. If you appreciate classic, old-school homemade ice cream, Applegate Farm is absolutely worth a stop.
