Wow! Came here for a work dinner while on a business trip and was blown away! Coming from NYC, I never expect the same quality of food and service but this is hands down the best French style bistro I've been too. The service was impeccable from start to finish  and when a member of our party explained her life threatening allergies, they were beyond accommodating and made sure there was no cross contamination or risks. We started with the salmon tartare, escargot, and Brussel sprouts all of which were delicious. The escargot is incredible, so rich and flavorful. I got the steak frites which was cooked to perfection and accompanied by great crispy fries. We also got this maple sweet potato side that is a must order. It tastes like the best sweet potato type thanksgiving casserole you've ever had. If I am ever back in Boston I will come here again! Must try!
From the moment you walk in the door and are warmly greeted by Samantha, a great experience is underway! James and Rafael are always the utmost professional servers, are very attentive, and always friendly to diners.  In addition, their knowledge of the menu and its offerings helps new visitors. Felipe makes sure  the tables are clean and set, and is always friendly and willing to assist in any way possible to make sure your experience makes you want to return. One of the nicest things we always experience is that Chef Keith always seems to find a moment to come out and say hello to us and make sure our food is prepared as ordered. This thoughtfulness from the staff doesn't happen at all restaurants-that's why we return to Aquitaine in the South End over and over again.
I love the location and the atmosphere. Most of the food is pretty good. I have been here five or 10 times over the past year and decided to write a review. There is an item on the brunch menu, the Japanese Omelet, that I have tried to order each of the past six times that I have been there. Each time I am told they are out of it.  I am convinced that they just don't make it and haven't gotten around to taking it off the menu. They should. Also, the past couple of times that I have been in, the service has been extremely slow and a bit MIA. For a place this small it is strange to not see your waiter for quite some time or have to flag them down.  The support staff who filled water and bring food are quite good and attentive. As I said, I enjoyed the food that I ordered, this past time the Cobb salad with duck and the mussels with fries. A little attention to detail  could  make this a better brunch experience.
