CLOSED as of 8/1/20 - really a shame, as I enjoyed having this place as an option in what is otherwise a heavily Mexican food-influenced part of town.  I love some of those places too, but there was something fun about doing a First Friday art walk and stopping in here for some really different and flavorful food.  Maybe they'll try again in another location when things get better?

I loooove Ethiopian food. ! Decided to go here again after a long hiatus. forgetting why I hadn't been in several years? When I was delivered the cocktail fork portion of " Ethiopian " hummus as an appetizer ah ha  I remembered why I go to the great Ethiopian places on Colfax instead. The veggie combo ( portions size  not fit for a newborn) entree was not much of a redeemer. :(:(. Price for 1person is 19 dollars. ??!! Lentils, spinach, potatoes and carrots ain't caviar , last timI checked. If you like Ethiopian you understand the baby food appearance of the fare that's served. If I had a baby and fed non existent baby these portions, imaginary baby would still be hungry and I would be called in to human services for malnutrition. If you want a nice Ethiopian meal with good portions go to Ethiopia or the places on Colfax. ....btw I like Ethiopian beer, nope they took it off the menu. :(

If I could give this place minus stars it would be 5. My first night in Denver, I was excited to dine at what looked like would be a enjoyable place. Unfortunately, things went downhill fast. Since there were many negative points, I will list them in bullet points below. - ordered tea. 30 minutes later, I asked the waitress where it was and she barked back "I HAVE TO MAKE IT" as if she personally had to pick and dry the leaves (mind you, there where only 2 other tables besides ours). - When the ill fated tea finally arrived, she slammed the tea glass into my water glass sending shards of glass into all our appetizers and beverages. Instead of apologizing or offering to clear the table, she reluctantly poured the tea into another glass leaving me to further grind the glass between my teeth when I bit into my sambusa. When told by my companion that I was in the bathroom (dirty) washing the glass out of my mouth, she sighed and said "fine, I'll bring you different sambusas but it will be another 10 minutes". We had to ask her to change our water but had to ask her again 15 minutes later to actually have it happen. - As I shifted my foot, I noticed a large piece of glass on the floor. I brought it to her attention so that it might be removed so as to not hurt any more diners, she said "I was going to clean it later" (defensively) - An hour and a half after arriving and ordering, we finally received cold food with an inadequate amount of injera. We wanted to ask her for more injera but my dining companion saw her at the bar cover two separate wet coughs into each of her hands. My companion, having lost her appetite, stopped eating. Two hours wasted, barely any food ingested, several sarcastic and defensive quips endured, we decided to ask for the check and cut our losses. I have never written a review this long or heated but this experience left me reeling. I came to Denver to spend 2 short days with a loved one and I'm sorry that this was our opening experience. Only go to Arada if you want to get insulted repeatedly by someone with zero professionalism or personal responsibility. At no point did she ever apologize or take accountability. Instead we got attitude all night and a bleeding mouth. We paid a pretty penny for this and went home hungry but happy to get away from her awful, combative, dismissive attitude and talk back.
