I am a regular customer of Architect Coffee Co. I probably go there at least once a week. So you may wonder why a 4-star rating. First of all, I am very picky about my espresso drinks--most people (especially Springfield natives) will probably have no issue with the drinks here and honestly they are better than most of the coffee shops in town. But, the lattes are often made too hot, and this destroys the milk proteins and changes the flavor. My other complaint is that almost every time I go there, someone is there having a Bible study or meeting with a Christian mentor or "accountability partner" and I have to overhear conversations that I would characterize as religious extremism. For example today a guy in his early twenties at the table next to me was informing a guy around his same age that he is a filthy sinner in the eyes of God and should not date a woman who drinks or smokes. This isn't a one-off thing...it's almost every time I go there, and as I've said I go there often. All in all, Architect is a good place with a nice variety of drinks and food, but if you're a third wave coffee aficionado or if you find outspoken Evangelical beliefs upsetting, I would suggest that you choose Coffee Ethic instead as it is a fantastic third wave coffee shop that's socially liberal and more inclusive. The selection was good and the drinks sounded amazing. They also have a nice selection of food... I got a Cortado, with sugar free vanilla and whole milk. It was bitter, I mean shocking bitter. My sister had an Architect Sugar free and ended up having to put two packets of Splenda in a medium size drink. It was very very bold. The m&m protein bites were delicious
