One of the joys of eating is discovering new flavours. Quanta Firfir is a combination of piquant, earthy berbere spices that season sautéed sun-dried beef fillet, mixed with torn injera that soak up all of the meat’s savory juices. Each bite resembles rehydrated jerky - distinctly bovine and salty, with a firm chew that holds up against the softer elements. The rich, aromatic flavour profile is balanced with injera’s sourdough-like tang; additional elements like fresh tomatoes, white onions, lettuce and green peppers add freshness. A hard-boiled egg rounds out the plate with some bulk and extra protein for gains. Food: 4 Service: 4 Atmosphere: 4 Meal type: Lunch

God bless this place and the staff! The food was absolutely delicious, prices were very reasonable and staff was very welcoming! Can’t wait to come back again! Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5 Price per person: $20–30 Vegetarian options: There is lots of vegan options

The Ariam Café take on food from the Horn of Africa (Eritrea, at Ariam) is absolutely delightful, as heavenly as the café's name (Ariam means heaven in Erirtea)...and the red tebsi is my absolute favourite...small chunks of beef in a spicy (you say how much spice, obvs!) berbere sauce, in the centre of a wide circle of injera, the Horn of Africa's bread...oh my!
