The food here has always been really good. It’s been a few years since I’ve dined here, but was craving late night breakfast so I placed an order to go. I ordered pancakes with eggs and meat over the phone. The menu on the website says this particular platter is 13.99. When I went inside to pick up, I wash charged 19.05. Quite a big jump! When I asked why it was so high, I was told that 1. There’s an additional charge for cheese on the eggs (totally understandable) and 2. There’s an up charge for turkey bacon??? I’ve never heard of that. She didn’t specify how much of an up charge and I didn’t ask, but a $5 increase is quite large. Had they mentioned this when I placed the order, I’d have asked for meat that didn’t incur an additional charge. I think $19 is a bit much for a take out breakfast platter. The food is still good but I think staff should be up front about pricing. Especially in this economy. Food: 4 Service: 1 Meal type: Breakfast Price per person: $10–20

Drove from Florida to Delaware — a 14-hour pilgrimage — because my family wanted to “see relatives” and apparently also audition for an episode of Kitchen Nightmares: Witness Protection Program Edition. Enter: Stargate Diner, where hope goes to die and the toast comes pre-depressed. The food? I’ve had more flavorful experiences breathing near someone else’s takeout. I’ve eaten airplane peanuts with more emotional depth. I’ve seen gas station nachos that look like Michelin-star cuisine next to whatever eldritch horror they put on my plate. But the real star of this disaster was Em, the owner’s daughter and the final boss of bad customer service. Picture Gordon Ramsay if he had been raised in a cave by feral raccoons and learned leadership from YouTube comments. She was SCREAMING at the staff like she was conducting an orchestra made entirely of anxiety attacks. Not in the kitchen. Not discreetly. Right in front of the customers like she was offering dinner AND a live show titled: “Em’s Guide to Destroying Morale in Under 60 Seconds.” Highlights of the performance: • Served my kids milk so expired it should’ve been in a museum. • Told a waitress she couldn’t use the bathroom because she was “watching her.”. Ma’am… blink twice if you need help. • Threatened to fire a staff member for something so minor I’m still not convinced it actually happened. My children now think every restaurant in Delaware is governed by a Disney villain who failed her audition for Ursula: The Prequel. 10/10 would NOT recommend unless you’re into psychological warfare served with a side of stomachache. Eat at Wawa. Eat on a curb. Eat fingernails. Literally eat anything else. Any claim that this review is false is untrue. This was a real event I watched unfold infront of my own eyes and refuse to be silenced over it, and will never return to this establishment.
