Best meal on my recent holiday. Beautiful setting, ambience and the most delicious prawns. I visited twice. I’ll definitely return on my next visit to Maputo. Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

Great atmosphere. Live music occasionally. There’s a kids area actually within visual range of their guardians’ table; so, it’s family-friendly. Good place for date nights with boo. Service was great. I went there with friends once (I usually go alone), still a great experience. Would recommend if it’s dinner time or if you’ve just arrived in Maputo! Despite the rain, our experience at Artistas started on a warm note. We were met at the entrance by Rosario, who arrived with a large umbrella and kindly escorted us to the door—a thoughtful gesture that immediately set the tone. Inside, we were greeted with genuine smiles from all the staff, making us feel very welcome. The menu is interesting and diverse, offering a well-executed mix of Mediterranean and Mozambican cuisine, and it is halal. We went for lunch and ordered the seafood platter for three; two of us had large appetites, and the portion was more than ample. The Italian seafood pasta was particularly delicious and stood out as a highlight of the meal. Service from Custodio was friendly, efficient, and attentive throughout. The bar also deserves a mention for making a very decent whisky sour. For families, there is a playground, which adds to the restaurant’s appeal, and true to its name, Artistas also hosts cultural events, giving the place a lively and creative atmosphere. Desserts, however, were the weakest part of the experience. Overall they were mediocre—the bolo de bolacha was especially disappointing. That said, the orange chocolate tart was excellent and easily the best dessert we tried. All in all, Artistas offers warm hospitality, generous portions, and flavorful food in a welcoming setting, with just a bit of room for improvement when it comes to desserts.
