We went there for nice diner and turn in bit of drama. We found that there didn't do haggis as main on the night, Just as started. i ask if there would do it as main which agreed to but we end paying for 4 starter at £12.60 each with a £5.90 discount. Me and my partner both heard the waiting team chatting say that we would have to pay this either way but this was not to our face which is bad. We check the next day and you could on the lunch main get haggis as main for £16.00. So not happy at all Will mention that as constellation the food was lovely. Visiting Inverness for the first time My husband and I decided to have lunch at ASH. The room we were directed into was empty apart from one other diner. As it was almost empty we asked for a larger 4 seater table rather than being squashed into a 2 seater. The waitress looked completely flummoxed and said we couldn’t as the larger tables were for more people. I could have understood this inflexibility if the restaurant was full but not as it was almost empty. I ordered haggis neeps and tatties as a starter but was disappointed with the presentation as it looked like a dessert; however once I deconstructed it I could see that it was indeed haggis , mashed potato and neeps. It tasted fine although I couldn’t taste any whisky in the whiskey sauce. My husband was pleased with his prawn cocktail and it was a good sized portion. I had Balmoral Chicken for a main course which was okay; I would have preferred the broccoli to be cooked for a few minutes longer as it was so aldente I struggled to cut it. My husband had the Glenmorange chicken which he thought was a little bit bland and dry. There was no taste of Glenmorange whisky. The bill should have come to about 49 pounds including the cost of two beers.
However, we were stunned to be given a bill for £72 .
The waitress was very apologetic when she explained that she had charged us the dinner price instead of the lunch price , hmmm !!!!
Tourists please be alert to this and make sure you check your receipt very carefully.
I agree with a previous review regarding the little man / manager in the dark suit. He was very brusque to my husband who tried to explain to him that the hand dryer in the male washroom wasn’t working ; his response was a very curt” We know”. Well if he knew why weren’t some paper towels or similar provided? I don’t think we would recommend others to eat at this restaurant probably because of the lack of people skills witnessed by our waitress and the manager.
