We almost missed Ashibe and that would have been such a shame. This hidden gem truly made our entire trip. During the day the owners bake fresh pastries every single day with so much love and care, and you can absolutely taste it. In the evening it transforms into a cozy bar with surprisingly amazing drinks. We cannot recommend the plum wine enough, it is absolutely delicious. And the Japanese snacks they serve alongside are a bonus you do not want to miss, a real treat for everyone. The owners have become our favourite people here! They are incredibly warm and kind, speak some English and make you feel welcome instantly. Their adorable little baby is often there too and it just adds to the cozy and loving atmosphere of the place. You truly feel the love here. What makes it extra special is that you are surrounded almost entirely by Japanese locals. As a tourist that gives you a genuinely authentic experience that is hard to find anywhere else.
