Found Astemio Wine & Food completely by accident, and it turned out to be a real hidden gem. It has a much more local feel than many of the touristy places in Rome, which was exactly what I was looking for. The wine selection is excellent. Had a bottle of Bramìto Chardonnay, which was very good, and also tried the Banfi Brunello di Montalcino by the glass, which was amazing. They are also very generous with their wine pours, which was a nice surprise. The food was excellent across the board. Tried the Ravioli Alchimista, lasagna, carbonara, tagliata di manzo and Margherita pizza, and really enjoyed the dishes. The pizza was probably my least favourite of what I tried, but this isn't a pizzeria, and everything else really stood out. This is definitely a wine bar where you can also have a proper, very good dinner. The staff were amazing, friendly and helpful, with the exception of one staff member whose attitude wasn't quite as welcoming. That didn't take away from the overall experience, though, because everyone else was great. Great food, great wine, a relaxed atmosphere and excellent service overall. Definitely a five-star experience and one of those places I'm glad I found by accident.
