Food at Atoma

You will be offered good lion pork, schnitzels and baked crab. Enjoy tasty biscuits, meringues and berry compote that are served at this restaurant. A lot of visitors order delicious house wine, martinis or negroni. Come to Atoma for great coffee or good berry cocktails.

This place is well known for its great service and friendly staff, that is always ready to help you. It's a pity, food here isn't worth the reasonable prices as people state. You will appreciate the homey decor and charming atmosphere of this spot. This restaurant is rated on Google 4.6 by its visitors.

TL;DR After three positive, completely uneventful meals at Atoma, we were unexpectedly informed (five months after our last visit) that we had been permanently banned for mistreating staff. We were completely shocked. The owner would not tell us what we had allegedly done, nor would she consider that we might have been confused with the party seated at our table before us during our last visit, who had stayed well past (over 30min) their allotted time. We tried to resolve the situation respectfully and directly with the owner over e-mail, but she refused to discuss it further. After we gave up trying to understand what had happened and left a review about our experience, the owner accused us of harassment and repeatedly threatened to report us to the police. Easily the most bizarre and surreal experience we have ever had with a restaurant. Full review: After three positive, completely uneventful meals at Atoma, my wife and I were informed by e-mail, while trying to make another reservation, that we had been permanently banned for allegedly mistreating staff. Huh…? We asked the owner, Sarah, what we had done (we genuinely had no idea) so that we could understand what had happened and take accountability. We also asked if her team might have confused us with the party seated at our table before us during our last visit, who had stayed past their allotted time and delayed our reservation by 30-40 minutes (which, just to add, we didn’t care about at all - we were happy just to be out without our two young kids). We offered to share photos of ourselves, have a phone call, or confirm any other information that might help clear things up. But Sarah wouldn’t provide any further explanation or consider that a mistake might have been made. She would only say that the decision was final and would not be changed. It was a pretty horrible and surreal experience. Eventually, we gave up trying to understand what had happened and left a review describing our experience. Right after we posted it, Sarah accused us of harassment as well as yelling (we never spoke to her or her staff after being banned), demanded that we take down the review, and sent us multiple messages threatening to report us to the police (you can find one such message on my wife's Yelp review, unless Sarah changes it). Being permanently banned without explanation was baffling enough. But being threatened with the police for leaving a negative review was truly wild. For complete transparency, this was the full extent of our contact with Atoma: We had a brief e-mail exchange with Sarah in July while trying to understand what had happened. In August, we told a longtime friend of ours who used to sell her beer at Atoma about the exchange, and she was equally shocked - she agreed that there must have been some sort of mix-up. She talked to Sarah once to see if she could figure out what was going on, but got the same response we did: no explanation and no willingness to reconsider. After that, we left a review. That is literally it. Sarah may respond to this review by again accusing us of harassment or threatening to involve the police. But what is written above is exactly what happened. This has been easily the most bizarre experience we've ever had with a restaurant. Needless to say, we strongly recommend avoiding Atoma.

We are responding publicly because this review is part of an ongoing pattern of conduct that has extended well beyond a disagreement about a restaurant experience.Following this couple’s initial visit to Atoma, their treatment of our team was sufficiently inappropriate that, as an owner, Sarah made the decision to cancel their future reservation and let them know they were no longer welcome at Atoma. That decision was made to protect our hardworking team and maintain a respectful environment for our staff and guests.Since that decision more than three months ago, both individuals have continued to contact us repeatedly by email, have reached out to people personally connected to the owners, and have posted a series of negative reviews across multiple platforms. We have retained records of these communications and activity. We have made every effort not to engage publicly in this matter. However, the continued contact has gone well beyond a restaurant review or legitimate customer complaint. The Seattle Police Department has been contacted regarding the ongoing conduct, and we are currently in the process of pursuing a protective order. We will continue to document any further contact or activity and provide that documentation to the appropriate authorities.Sarah’s decision was made in her capacity as an owner to protect her team. We stand behind that decision, and we will not disclose private details about the original incident simply to litigate it publicly. We ask that all further contact with Atoma, its employees, its owners, and people personally connected to the owners stop. We will not be engaging further on this matter.

Atoma tops my list of favorite restaurants. We tried the rosette cookie, radish cake, crumpets, asparagus salad, pork with leek and morels, halibut, bananarama ice cream, and spring rhubarb with ginger granita. Everything was truly a "wow" dish and I enjoyed my meal more than some other fine dining restaurants that were more expensive. Our server was great and I appreciated the friendlier/more relaxed environment inside compared to other high end restaurants. Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5
