Going to the Avenue Grill is like walking into an old Frank Sinatra movie. I mean come on. The place still has a few Naugahyde upholstered booths. On a nice day the most choice 2-tops are along the expansive north wall of windows. The room itself is kind of contemporary in that there's one big open area with a high ceiling. But other than its shape and foot-print that's about all that's contemporary about the AG. The servers are nice and the speed of service is just dandy (see, I'm using those 60's terms . . . dandy, huh?:). My regulars on the menu are the Raspberry Vinaigrette Chicken Salad, the Reuben, and the 1/2 and 1/2 soup (clam chowder) and sammi. The price point is fair and the ambiance dated but not too noisy. All-in- all an excellent place for a business lunch. At dinner with the white table cloths, the open seating, and the mahogany tables/chairs, the place does have some old time charm and romance about it. David "Naugahyde Pants" M P.S.
