Was in the area looking for sushi, found this place. We had the whole place to ourselves on Saturday at lunchtime. Traditional seating with tables you kneel at (RIP my knees). Large nigiri sushi lunch deal was great value & was beautifully presented. The sashimi platter felt a bit small but was also interesting. The chef was nice and welcoming, we didn't really share a common language so he brought a sushi book to show us what fish we were eating. Clam was awesome, even normally-least-loved egg was a delight. We did not check reviews before eating here however so alas, did not realize that everything on the plate was hiding an important secret. On biting into an innocuous cucumber roll, I too discovered (like Victoria Henri) that wasabi can indeed make you cry. As I felt the fumes peeling the top layer of cells from my sinuses & clutched my companion's arm (I'm a tad dramatic) the chef made eye contact with my (red, watery) eyes. He goes "karai?" (spicy) & I go "hai!" (yep). He said sorry & then giggled. Westerners - if you have a sushi-eating routine back in your home country of adding soy & wasabi, for your own safety, take heed. Price per person: ¥1,000–2,000
