Mean bartender who doesn't like to talk. Just sits there and stares at you and looks angry. Don't ask for recommendations. He tells you that you need to know what you want before ordering. Don't ask to try something new. I asked specifically if he would recommend a Japanese whiskey. I told him I like everything. He refused to recommend at first. I even told him I prefer it neat. He was still angry that I couldn't be specific. Just tell me something that you like because I'm going to like it. Why be so angry? Every other bartender gives a recommendation without arguing. Why react like this? I will come back for another drink and now that he knows what I like I hope he is competent enough to give a suggestion without losing his composure and getting angry. Price per person: ¥10,000+

Thank you for taking the time to address something that happened over two weeks ago. With all due respect, I have nothing to recomend to someone who, upon meeting me for the first time, can only say, "What do you recommend?" As I've mentioned in my replies to others, You should at least be able to tell me usually , how you like it, and what flavor you prefer. Isn't that where communication begins? Since most bars in Japan don't have menus, perhaps you should take this as a lesson. Ihope youdon't have a similar experience next time － at a different bar. Since it seems someone added a comment, I'll add one as well. If you had an unpleasant experience at my bar, wouldn't it be enough simply not come back without saying a word? If you hadn't left a comment, you wouldn't have had to feel upset twice. I really don't understand. I'd like to take this opportunity to say that, whether the review is positive or negative, I always make it a point to reply to anyone who leaves a comment. So, If you're going to write a negative review, please be prepared for a response.

GORGEOUS, well stocked and lovely little bar with a very helpful, kind, precise and expert bartender. I have NO idea what the recent negative review was about, because as someone who came to the bar solo, and who speaks almost no Japanese, I was treated very well and thoroughly enjoyed my experience here. Edited to add that perhaps the bartender may take a moment to warm up to people, possibly if they may be indecisive, or don’t at least attempt to communicate their preferences, based on the couple of negative comments? As someone who first communicated via google translate, and who loves both whiskey and a great martini, I was treated very well and would love to come again. Great bar, selection and bartender! As for the comment re body odour, given you can smoke in this bar, I find it extremely hard to believe it’s ever possible to smell someone EVEN if they didn’t smell fresh. I planned to come here for one drink and try another bar or two, but happily settled in and didn’t bother trying anywhere else from the first martini. Seriously: ignore the negative comments and enjoy this excellent bar, selection and service, and a most excellent play list for those in their 40s. HIGHLY recommend. Price per person: ¥1,000–2,000 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

If you're in the Akasaka area, you must stop by BAR Cross Over. This intimate 7-person bar is warm and inviting. It feels authentic, which I appreciate. The drinks were delicious, and you can tell the bartender knows what he's doing. The bar is on the second floor, but the sign is easily visible and the door is open. I will be back next time I'm in the area!
