In general, their food is good. But the staff working there, especially the one at Akerbrygge, their service is awful. They have no hospitality, no kindness at all. It is better not to go there if you don't want to feel bad.

Nestled in the charming Arkeny Brygge, Backstube is the perfect spot to escape the biting cold. The moment I stepped inside, I was welcomed by a warm and inviting atmosphere, complemented by the delightful aroma of freshly baked goods. The decor is a lovely mix of rustic and modern, creating a cozy space where you can easily settle in with a good book or catch up with friends. The soft lighting and comfortable seating make it an ideal refuge from chilly weather. The food and drink offerings are good. I indulged in a steaming cup of coffee, expertly brewed, and paired it with one of their delectable pastries. The croissant was flaky, buttery, and possibly one of the best I’ve had in a long time. They also offer a variety of breads and sandwiches that looked equally tempting. The bar staff appeared to be somewhat annoyed and lacking in friendliness. Their demeanor was often brusque, with minimal eye contact and short responses that conveyed impatience. Even when orders were placed, there was a noticeable lack of warmth in their interactions, making customers feel unwelcome. The overall atmosphere created by the personnel suggested that they were more focused on completing tasks than on providing a pleasant experience. This attitude could lead to a sense of discomfort for patrons, diminishing the enjoyment of their time at the bar. Overall, Backstube is a delightful stop for anyone looking to warm up and enjoy some delicious treats. Whether you’re a local or just visiting, I highly recommend taking a break here.
