Unfortunately we waited an hour for the drinks and then unfortunately there was no accommodating arrangement at first. In the end it did, but very rude and unprofessional... It's a shame, actually quite good drinks... Service: 1 Atmosphere: 2

I haven't been to the Balke for many years because I didn't remember my experiences seven to nine years ago very pleasantly. Now I was invited there again and gave the store another chance. Unfortunately, the same reasons that made me stop coming back then are still there: the atmosphere is unpleasant, the music gets worse as the evening goes on, the employees take themselves drastically too seriously and are snooty and need drinks forever (sometimes almost an hour...) - but above all: for a bar that prides itself so much on its cocktails, they're simply not good. It's not really clear to me how the bartenders manage to do this despite the actually high-quality ingredients, but I didn't find a really tasty drink at our entire table and over the course of an entire evening. And that, I fear, is the ultimate sin. I would forgive a bit of snootyness, I would wait a little longer and I would be happy to pay the high prices - but if even the Old Fashioned doesn't fit... then the store won't see me again for the next seven to nine years.
